There are several production limits and membrane preformance dependencies. Hollow fiber with OD above 800micro is very dificult to produce. Wall thickness relates to possible flux and mechanical strength. Ratio of OD and wall thickness determines resistance of the fiber to kink. Higher OD limits number of fibers in the membrane bundle or module thus active membrane surface is decreased. Pore size with porosity and wall thicknes affects mechanical strength of the fiber. Mechanical strength is indication of chemical cleaning durability and thus life span of the membrane.
